Bought a shirt. Might buy another if I get a job in the near future. Might buy 3 more if I get a job and the pay actually improves over my last job.
DR, thanks for your leadership and efforts that made Gentoo the best Linux distro out there! _________________ "Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. I knew I should have purchased when the Australian dollar was stronger...

Well, counting the numbers in this thread, a very rough estimate is about $4500 has been donated and posted about in this thread.
Probably some more people that didn't post but did donate :p _________________ Pentium 4 Prescott 3,2 GHz

Hmm I went to the store to donate to drobbins, and it appears to have changed..
Quote: | Welcome to the new Gentoo Store! Our mission is to sell reasonably-priced, high-quality Gentoo-related products. All store profits are used to support Gentoo development efforts, server infrastructure and further our efforts to establish a not-for-profit entity for Gentoo. To view our Store Social Contract, please click here. Thank you for supporting Gentoo! |
I would like to help Daniel out of his predicament, but I refuse to enrich a stinkin' lawyer who is filing paperwork to set-up the non-profit Gentoo foundation.
Does anyone have a direct address that we can donate to? The donation button is: Quote: | This item represents a $1 USD donation to the Gentoo Free Software Project. Select an item quantity to match the donation amount you'd like to make -- for example, for a $20 USD donation, set the quantity field to 20. |
Thanks, and if you are reading this drobbins. Take a serious bow for suprilative work. Best of luck in whatever you work on next. _________________ This space for rent... Well maybe to give away.. Heck.. i'll pay you to take it.

I think I understand the sentiment, but it's important to realize that drobbins was working very hard on the non-profit set-up before leaving Gentoo. I am not sure, because I'm not involved, but I assume that the not-for-profit setup paperwork was done by Gentoo volunteers.
I helped set up a non-profit organization in New Mexico, a local Habitat for Humanity affiliate here in Socorro. We worked part-time for the better part of a *year* to get the paperwork in order for filing.
It's like doing your taxes: you do most of the work. The filing fees are negligible, probably not more than $250.
But when you see "Donations go towards helping us set up the non-profit", you could read that as "Donations help feed Gentoo volunteers while they do terrible amounts of paper-work"! |

Well, I hope that robbins is better off fromt the donations. I doubt he got a bad job if he has one, even with the employment rate so shitty.
Thank you Daniel for the best distro ever. I will never let Gentoo die, for it can't with the amount of people who run it. _________________ Thermaltake Polo 735
