Please excuse me if this topic has been discussed before. (I know there is a 'favorite SNES RPG games' thread)
Lately I've been playing some SNES games. (Emulated with ZSNES)
Back in the days when the SNES ruled the world I didn't have a SNES, so I'm making up for it now.
Here is my list of most played games: (No particular order)
Super Castlevania IV
Super Pang/Super Buster Bros
Super Mario Bros 3 (My favorite from the Super Mario All-stars + World collection)
Super Metroid
Super Punch-Out
Puzzle Bubble/Bust A Move
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Lost Vikings
Magic Boy
Micromachines 1&2
Tetris Attack
Troddlers
What are your favorites/recomendations?

I played on snes9x a bit, but I haven't really tried many games yet. Two games I really enjoyed as well as many in your list though were Final Fantasy 2 and 3. I never played the later ones, but those games are really involving and addictive. _________________ - I

I should have specified the Super Mario Bros 3 a bit. I have the Super Mario All-stars + World ROM, but I like SMB3 best.
Super Mario World comes second (Of the Mario games) after SMB3

If you like RPGs, there's also Chrono Trigger (also by Square). A very great (not to mention difficult game). |

Sadly I lack the patiens to play RPGs. I tried to play Chrono Trigger a bit, but I didn't get any further than past the 'marked square' before I gaveup.
(I didn't get the combat system )
Zelda I can play for a while because the combat is more hack 'n' slash like. Mabye I should give those RPGs another try. |

Don't forget the absolute masterpiece Yoshi's Island! Mystical Ninja is also pretty fun for the graphics, but in terms of gameplay just so-so. |

Square makes easy games. Good games, but easy. |

imo, rpg's have mostly customizable difficulty because you can avoid levelling up. |

Did you ever play the NES square games? FF1 was a bitch! I agree though, they really dumbed down things, especially after SNES.. |

Best SNES game was easily Chrono Trigger.
Followed by (in no particular order):
Yoshi's Island
FFV(get it now on emulator!) + FFVI
Super Mario RPG
Rock and Roll Racing
Killer Instinct
Street Fighter II Turbo
Zelda: A Link to the Past
edit: wow how did I miss these!! SNES had soo many good games.
Mario Kart
Uniracers - one of the most unique and addicting racing games in existence

I finished FF1. Talk about impossible AND boring! I just resorted to using save states to avoid battles most of the way through the game. I think they were just not experienced in balancing things out at that point, and it got way too hard way too quick. |

Mario kart race is simply the best..
Followed by Legend of Zelda.. I wasted months playing it with my brother..
Yoshis Island was also very addictive :=) |

Excuse my ignorance, when you say Legend of Zelda, are you referrring to the original Zelda I (which was a NES game), or some late version for the SNES? Or have they made a SNES port of the original?
Otherwise, another vote for Chrono Trigger. But I have voiced my fanboy opinion on Square games already.
Castlevania was fun too, and I also enjoyed the Mechwarrios game SuperMechWarrior, despite the awful controls. _________________ Please put [SOLVED] in your topic if you are a moron. |

Hello!
My fav. Game is Zelda: A link to the past
A little more exotic, but also great for their genre and therefore part of my favs are Harvest Moon (manage a farm) and Pilotwings (flight simulator).
Greetz,
Scotty |

I was refering to The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past (If it was me you where asking) I just forgott the full title of the game. I'm a NES/SNES n00b
So, how many Zelda games are there? Is 'A Link to the Past' the second or the third Zelda game?
Edit:
Doh! When reading all the post in this tread I see that 'A Link to the Past' is the third game. I should learn to read/post more carefully |

Third, there were 2 for the NES (The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II : The adventure of Link). In total there are around 10 (if you include the 2 Gameboy titles they've made).
As for my SNES games, did anyone ever try Unirally? Weird game but a little addictive... |

The third according to these guys:
http://zdomain.zeldauniverse.net/index.php?zd=zeldahistory.shtml
And if I count correctly, there are about ten games in total.
EDIT: ok, celtis beat me by two seconds, but I got a Link in mine! _________________ Please put [SOLVED] in your topic if you are a moron. |

Super Ghouls and Ghosts (Music is like an orchestra)
Top Gear (I've had the music for this game stuck in my head for 12 years)
Top Gear 2 |

Ditto
I like the platform-games (SMW, DonkeyKong, Yoshi, etc.) because I'm more of a 10-20 min. gamer. Would love to complete FF3 & Zelda if I could dedicate more time to gaming (have more patience..) _________________ --- checking for native Win32 platform... no |
