|
|
I decided to reinstall my system from scratch with the stage 1 of gentoo 1.4rc1. I put the stage1 file on one of my partition and I boot with the stage 1 of Gentoo 1.2.
When I got the point where I need the stage 1 I mounted my partition and use that stage to continue. Everything went fine I did stage 2 and 3 without any problem.
After I finish the installation I reboot my machine and boot back in gentoo.
Well I got a problem it can mount /proc. so i put my root pass and list my / and I found out there is no /proc ..... but this is suppose to be created when I unpack stage 1 right ?? so what would be the best way to fix this ????
I use the file : stage1-x86-1.4_rc1-20020908-1208.tar.bz2 |

Code: | # mkdir /proc
# mount /proc |

Did you enable the proc filesystem support in your kernel? |

If you have an entry for it in /etc/fstab, and support in your kernel as biroed notes, then yes, it will get automatically mounted at boot time. It didn't work that one time because the mount point didn't exist - once you have made the mount point, you should be OK.
EDIT: _SkeLeToN_'s next unrelated question flew over here. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
