The question is simple, .....

What would be the name ?
What kind of drinks and name ?
    Which logo ? except Tux
    What kind of decoration ?
    What kind of party ?
    ....... Imagine.........

The reason of this question : I went on discotheque this week and it was so boring that I started talking about that with some friends. We imagine a discotheque called "The Kernel" , drinks : Classic drinks renamed : such as /dev/null , Panic, grep, Torvalds, and whatever you can imagine related to Linux. Where we could organize big Linux Party during the day , Lan Party, Exchange party, ....

just put your drinks in plastic bottles, with masking-tape labels, then go to a LAN party.

You guys even sleep with a computer? He said a _cluB_! A club usually involves high-beat music, lots of dancing, having fun with friends, some drinking and perhaps getting a date to end the night.
Of course, if you prefer fraging other d00dz around in front of a monitor, go help yourself.
Manu-BE: I think this is one hell of an idea as an after-event of a hackmeeting or such...

Put on a random mix of Kraftwerk, Rammstein, John Coltrane, Keith Jarret, Bach and Radiohead, and you've got your music sorted.

Make a corner of the room called "/dev/input/beer" and another corner called "/dev/null" for toilets.

Make the room mighty small, or next to a LAN party, or fill the room with cardboard cutouts of such luminaries as Jean Luc Picard, Seven of Nine, Lara Croft, Alan Cox and a small punchbag with Steve Ballmer.

I think Jamie Zawinski (the xscreensaver developer) already has you covered ;)

He runs the DNA Lounge in San Francisco:

It's even open sourced:

haha, no, I'm not THAT geeky. I'm just saying that a Linux-themed club sounds rather silly...

And, being a 17-year-old in a small town, the most fun to be had around here is to go to the movies or the bowling alley with some friends. Well, that doesn't include drinking, but I don't drink.

heh, Phantom... actually I agree that a permanent club themed on linux would be of... let's say not much appeal.
However staging up something similar at the aftermath of a hackmeeting or defcon kind of thing would be a 100% guaranted success.

it's quite fun, because they know how to party AND we can have nice geek discussions over there ;)

How pathetic a Linux Bar would be. Not a sane girl in the world would decide going to such a joint, only guys who have nothing left to do in their life. :D No offense, but this is a no go. Are there any girls out here that can confirm this?

This idea doesn't mean that you need to know which kernel is out now or you don't need give your linux user number .... It's would be a linux-themed disco :) It doesn't matter if you don't know anything about linux or even computers.

I read some good ideas :P ..... It would be great if Defcon would take place in Belgium ... but I think they prefer a Casino in Las Vegas instead of a disco in a rainny country :?:
