I finally got the Agfa Snapscan 1212u working with the 2.6 kernel and libusb.

I grabbed the latest version 1.0.12 of sane-frontends and version 1.0.14-pre2 of sane-backends from http://www.sane-project.org

After unmerging the current frontend and backends, I manually compiled these versions and
everything worked perfectly.

I tried copying the ebuild from the latest portage packages and make a new ebuild for these but had problems. The frontend worked out, but the backend wouldn't work. When I tried to make a new digest, it complained about the name "sane-backends-1.0.14-pre2.ebuild"

If anyone could make an ebuild that would be great and help a lot of people who have been having troubles with this scanner.[/url]

hi,

I've been struggling with this exact setup for a while now. could you provide more detail on what you had to do regarding any of the following:

USE variables
kernel drivers
hotplug settings
sane.d settings

Thanks!
