Ok, I'm getting this on almost everything I'm trying to do now...

After I emerge sync, it tells me to update portage, so I emerge -k portage and it goes to it's thing and gets to

configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check...

configure: error: /bin/sh './configure' failed for autoconf-lib-link

!!! ERROR: sys-devel/gettext-0.12.1 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 365, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed

So how do I get through this? I've looked in the forums but I don't think I'm finding what I need.

I've also tried emerge -k gcc and it does the same thing.

Code:
Aurora root # /lib/cpp --version
cpp (GCC) 3.3.3 20040217 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.3, propolice-3.3-7)

Does that work? What does it say?

Are you trying to do a stage1 installation ?

The update portage message is intended for people with already installed systems.
Do not update portage prior to bootstrap, because it will break your installation.

It sounds like they don't give refunds. :D
