well i just think that the basic bash install should have a ~/.bashrc which contains somthing like this:

# .bashrc
# User specific aliases and functions
# Source global definitions
if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then
. /etc/bashrc
fi

then we can put some global alias's/prompt in /etc/bashrc. The reason why i think this is needed is because when i go into X and run terms...bash_profile is NOT run for each of them. So my fancy prompts and aliases (ls = ls --color=tty :)) dont happen :(

I took the idea from my old Redhat install, but it works very nicely. I have manually done it on my own system, but i hate to have to copy that .bashrc into each users dir each time :( ... which means that the useradd script will need minor adjustment (i think)

what do you guys think, personally i find it very usefull.

I agree! This was one confusing thing for me that took me a while to realise there was no /etc/bashrc. There is a .bashrc though.

You wouldn't need to edit the useradd script though, just edit/add the files in /etc/skel. That is where useradd grabs the files it uses when it creates a user home directory.
