What unreal tournament version we talking about? 2004?
Have you tried emerging like this?:
#USE="~x86" emerge ut2004

It won't work, because there is no ebuild yet (searched for one myself...)
(Only a ebuild for the demo...)
I even couldn't find the binaries on the web, perhaps there are no at the moment? |

Code: | ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge ut2004-demo |
That will get the demo installed.
I've used the installer off disc 1 of the full version of ut2004 and that installed without a hitch. Just make sure you call the installer from a path outside of the cd's mount point. Otherwise you won't be able to unmount the cd to switch CDs during the install process.
I ran the install as my user account, and not as root, and installed to an area where I had my local account setup with write access to.
