I don't know if anyone has ever tried to do this before, but i'm just about sure there has been an effort. What i'm looking for is the possibility to stream audio from one computer to another computer over ethernet. something that looks like a fully functional audio card to one computer, but the audio is actually streamed to another computer to be played. has any one ever heard of a program that can do this? I'm not sure if it even exists, but I think it would be someting fun to work on if it didn't. |

I tried this for a thin client project I was doing, ltsp.org seems to have an audio driver and I did manage to find 1 or 2 buggy /dev/dsp redirectors but they didn't work.
....arts (kde) will do it too.... |

As I understand mpd, its allows you to control what music a computer is playing remotely. It doesn't actually move the music over the Internet.
So, yes artsd, nmm, these things will work. |
