After reading some good things about it, I decided to try qemu with some old dos system disks I have lying around. When I emerged it everything seemed to go okay but when I typed "qemu" I got command not found. Checking my */bin directories for executables I found that although "qemu-i386", "qemu-sparc", "qemu-ppc", "qemu-mkcow", and "qemu-arm" do exist, there indeed is no "qemu".

Thinking it might just be a forgotten link, I did try to run "qemu-i386" but got only help specifying commandline options that appear to have no relation to specifying hds, fds, cdroms, etc, and from the ebuild it appears that binaries aren't hidden in the */lib or /opt directories either. So, does anyone know where the qemu binary would be found or how I ensure it gets compiled when I emerge the program?

EDIT: By the way, searching Google turned up an interesting front end called Kqemu. I tested it and the interface looks pretty good for an 0.1 app B-). It of course needs the qemu binary too though B-(

Try reemerging qemu with
Code:
USE="softmmu qemu-fast" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86 emerge qemu

Thanks, but that didn't work. I'll work with precompiled version for now, but if you think I've anything else I'd appreciate it B-)
