Considering that when yu install gentoo you load a legitimate linux kernel and the xbox itself has USB slots and an ethernet port I see no reason why it couldn't be a fully working system. The trck is to get the older ones on Ebay, I understand MS thas put some measures to prevent reinstalling the OS. _________________ If you get your problem solved put a [SOLVED] in the title!

You can have a normal system running on it... but you need to remember that the CPU is a 700 or so MHz Pentium 3, and (probably more of a problem) the box only has 64 MB of RAM (and there is no easy way to add more). Whether it is enough for practical use depends on which kind of applications you want to run on it.
You can look at the Xbox-Linux project site and FAQ if you haven't already done so. |
