Well I'm all hot to get rid of the 'sdX' naming scheme for my external storage devices so I tried messing around with the udev.rules file but after several hours of trying and not getting what I want I'm posting here.

I can mount both devices as 'sdX', here is my entries for both in my udev.rules file:
Code:

KERNEL="sbp2",          NAME="fw/%k"
KERNEL="usb-storage",   NAME="woof/%k"

The 'woof' name is just temporary until I get a working setup.

Well about 30 minutes after posting the above I got tired of sitting on my lazy butt and searched some more and found this.

I tried it out and what do you know it worked! Hope this helps someone else.
