|
|
Hello
I have an A8V motherboard which has on it a VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60). I am using KDE/X11-7.1 with ALSA on amd64 linux, and almost everything sound related works fine(I can play mp3s etc), appart from the fact I cannot get any sound from the microphone. I know the microphone is OK, as I have tried it on another machine where it works fine. The two applications I have tried are Krec and Skype, neither of which hear anything on the microphone. Where should I look, where can I try?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Regards, |

I'm having problem with it too with the same hardware, but I can get sound from the microphone (i hear it on my speakers), but skype doesn't "grab it". _________________ nasci pelado, careca e sem dente, o que vier é lucro |

I can't even get sound out of mine. Compiled the drivers into the kernel. No error messages when I boot, and KDE doesn't complain about audio problems like it did on my other box, but I just can't hear anything. |

Check if the capture is setup on silent in alsamixer. Capture is F5 and playback is F4 if my memory is correct. |

Thanks very much. I have tried that, and it seems that capture is not set to silent, and the microphone is selected.
I did notice one thing though, not sure if its relevant, alsamixer reports the following about my hardware:
Card: VIA 8237
Chip: Realtek ALC850 rev 0
Yet I don't see Realtek as being listed as having an ALSA driver (or at least one developed by the ALSA project) |
