I've had some problems installing ut2004 on my system. The first cd worked fine but then I couldn't get the second one to read. Does anyone have any cluse why this is?
But I did manage to get it installed on my debian box, and then transfering it over. This appeared to work fine, but I have a few problems that I'm wondering if they are because of not actually installing it.
First is: The game freezes when going into a net game, it gets to the loading screen and then just sits there forever.
Second: The game crashes every-now-and-then. I've heard this is just a bug in the engine, but I'd like that confirmed.
My friend (who's on windows) also has trouble with the game crashing.
Does anyone else have these problems?

good thing is that there are a set of test binaries that seem to fix the problem for me.

From the link Peacefaker gave you

here is the direct link http://icculus.org/~icculus/tmp/ut2004-kintersect-fix-2-x86.tar.bz2

If you are using amd-64 you will have to scan the thread to find the binaries for that platform.

None of the binaries stop my crashing.

But at least the system doesn't crash like windows usually does! :D

Hi,

I've had a similar problem with the DVD version, while the game installed on my SuSE box without any problems. But for me a kernel update to the latest standard kernel solved the problem (was 2.6.4), but 2.6.5 woul do the same I guess.. :)
