pbbuttonsd configuration file disappeared

Hello!

I just updated pbbuttonsd to version 0.5.10.
Now /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf is a link to /var/lib/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf, but this file doesn't exist.

A slocate -u && slocate pbbuttonsd.conf doesn't report another location of the file.
I do not remember the former situation very well, but I guess /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf was a file and not a link. Why did emerge overwrite this file, although it is a /etc configutation file which should be protected?

Is there anyone that already had this problem, and maybe has an explanation?

according to the pbbuttonsd website /var/lib/pbbuttons/ was the default path for the config file until 5.9-5. i forgot to look at it before upgrading but yes, /etc/pbbuttonsd was once a file.
previous versions overwrote it too and i got used to replace it with a backup after emerging a new version.
the link now points to nowhere, isn't this part in the ebuild wrong for the new version?
#fix the symlink
rm ${D}/etc/pbbuttonsd.conf
# mv ${D}/var/lib/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf ${D}/etc/pbbuttonsd.conf
# dosym /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf /var/lib/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf
dosym ${mydir}/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf

The ebuild assumes that a file /${mydir}/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf gets installed, but appearently, this is not the case in 0.5.10.

The ebuild of 0.5.9 looks the same, so maybe /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf always was a symlink. But then, I do not understand, why my config file got erased.

Code: Select all

	#fix the symlink
	rm ${D}/etc/pbbuttonsd.conf
#	mv ${D}/var/lib/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf ${D}/etc/pbbuttonsd.conf
#	dosym /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf /var/lib/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf
	dosym ${mydir}/pbbuttons/pbbuttonsd.conf /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf
Yes, you were right. Removing these lines fixes the ebuild. I filed a Bug Report with patch.
