Can anyone recommend a clean, transparent "biff" mail checker. I want something with a reasonably pretty icon which sits on the corner of the screen and shows if there in unread mail -- nothing more (though IMAP support would be great).
I've tried a bunch of them, and gnubuff would be good, if only the background were transparent.
I'd try some simple engage setup, but it's not building or behaving properly in these pre-DR17 times.
To get an idea of the minimalist look I am going for, here is my current enlightenment DR16 desktop (with this Firefox window iconized in the upper left.

If you like wmaker applets you can use wmpop, it can do transparencies in most wm (havent ever tried it under E thou...) There are also wmpop3lb and wmpop3, but I dont remember if any of these two can do transparencies. All the three are in portage, you can install them in one minute and try the three.
Wmpop is cool, you can personalize the look with your own image, so, if it works for you it will suit your theme for sure. It can also configure the application to open the mails. Advice, emerge it with --nodeps, otherwise it will pull esound, that is not needed at all. |
