I think this is more of a problem with the sparc hardware itself, but whenever I boot my ss5, i don't get any video.
That is, unless i unplug the monitor, boot the ss5, wait until the power light comes on, then plug it in. Then I can boot into solaris fine. BUT, when I boot cdrom, the video stops working again, and no amount of finageling will get it to work.
I'm using a PC monitor with a converter. Not sure of the model, but it is an official sun product (with the sun logo and everything!).
Maybe a defective framebuffer? I'm sure i've got another one lying around somewhere... _________________ word. |

I tried my other framebuffer, but it still dosen't work.
I've found that if i keep the monitor unplugged, stop+a, ok boot cdrom, and then plug it in, i get video in linux. It seems this is only a problem when the screen switches resolutions. A synch problem? _________________ word. |
