this is the weirdest thing I've seen yet, kinda logical still...
Long story short:
I had a A7N8X mother board PCB revision 1.04 .... didn't have support for 400 FSB
got a A7N8X PCB revision 2.0 with support for AMD 3200 barton at 400 fSB
plugged all the devices, worked fine. when I tried to copy a large amount of MB (300 - 500)
Gentoo would frezze.
Tried to copy the same amount of files and megabytes on windows... nothing happened.
Tweaked the kernel, modified hdparm parameters, memory timmings, checked power supply, changed for another PS, did all kinds of stuff. Nothing.
went to the Bios and change the base FSB from 200 to 199Mhz. Worked.
went to the bios again and changed it from 199 to 202. Works.
went again to the bios and restored the FSB to 200. Freeze.
????
Im running at 202 now and Its stable as a rock. _________________ Think outside the Windows |

Gotta love Asus...
Stuff like that is one of the reasons why I chose the EPoX 8RDA+ over the A7N8X Deluxe when I was motherboard shopping last year. _________________ Wasurenaide...

Similar problems with many ecs mbs, I have a k7s5apro, and it won't even boot with any fsb higher than 160 I think, i've got mine set at 159, solid as a rock, but, kinda slow |

Think that's about 8 or 9 celcius, just guessing though. |

yes about 9. Guess what else?? glxgears is giving me about 900 fps more than before...
Faster, cooler and more stable when overclocked
I would've never notice it using windows. _________________ Think outside the Windows |
