All right people! here it is:

Intel 915 user have had the problem that their hard disk was being detected as hdc and cdrom as hdd. They couldnt activate dma! So here is the solution:

Append the parameters

Code:

gentoo hdc=noprobe hdd=noprobe libata_enabled=1 doscsi

VOila! Your hard disk will be detected as sda and cdrom as sr0. You will be able to extract speed from your drives now. This was tried on gentoo 2006.1
