i just did a stage1 install of 1.4 on my hdds
unfortunately i used xfs on my /
i know i could just go back to r7, but is it possible to perhaps cp the entire disk to a backup partition, redo the filesystem ext3, then copy all the crap back over?
just wondering cuz i read xfs has dataloss problems anyway...... |

You could also just use xfs-sources instead of gentoo-sources. Have you seen this? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

For any filesystem A:
- there is someone who swears by it and says that it has never caused any problems, even on an offshore oil rig in the middle of a thunderstorm with hard drives taken out of a dumpster, and 7000 simultaneous disk-intensive applications running.
- there is someone who lost the only copy of their collection of love letters from that special someone, their diary, term paper, and income tax records to it, and swears that it is the most unreliable piece of garbage ever known to humanity and that they would rather go back to chiseling hieroglyphics in stone tablets than ever use it again.
I don't want to have to lock this thread, but I fear it's asking for another round of Filesystem Holy Wars, so...
Can we please keep the discussion to how someone who has made an XFS root partition with the 1.4rc1 install CD can either use it as XFS or change the filesystem to something else? The first "XFS R00LZ" or "XFS SUX0RS" post will be the last. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
