After install - from stage 1 ...seemed fine but on boot I get

BTW Suse 7.1 boots fine with a 2.2 kernel

I'm replying to myself in case anyone else runs into this problem...after much googling etc..it appears the problem was introduced in the 2.4.0-test5 kernel and repaired in the much later versions... This I haven't confirmed personally....
Another thread added that only gcc 2.92 could compile the kernel correctly to overcome this problem.
So, I compiled 2.4.19 on a Suse 7.1 distro with gcc 2.92 and I am now booting .... |
