Everything went succesfull
I have set the correct HOST, CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS, with a commented USE-variable.

I had a system once that kept rebooting itself. I had accidentily installed/emerged the ACPI packages, while it wasnt ACPI compliant. Sometimes it just rebooted then. Perhaps in your case as well?

Could you please go to /usr/src/linux, run "make menuconfig", select "Processor type and features", and tell us what the very first line "Processor family" says? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I restarted using the CD as rescue disk
I did:
# mkdir /mnt/gentoo
# mount /dev/hda3 /mnt/gentoo
# mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/gentoo/boot
# mount --bind /proc /mnt/gentoo/proc
-> error:
mount: invalid option -- -
mount: invalid option -- b
mount: invalid option -- i
mount: invalid option -- d
mount: Mounting /proc on /mnt/gentoo/proc failed= Block device required
/usr/src/linux -> no such file or dir |

i have used the cd to boot into an install that had trouble and never mounted /proc. i usually just made certain the swap was on and that mounting /boot was done also incase a kernel rebuild (usually what i needed) was the issue. but try mount -o bind /proc /mnt/gentoo/proc and see if that works.
and when you mount /boot there is not need to mkdir /mnt/gentoo/boot it will exist but if you do it wont hurt anything it will just tell you its already there. |

You must emerge the kernel sources. You have a few choices here - look in /usr/portage/sys-kernel for details. If you haven't already, please read the installation guide (which I notice says "1.4" now). _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
