|
|
Hi,
I'm trying to install gentoo on a dual-opteron system and get some weird error messages from time to time with different ebuilds:
e.g.
Code: | gcc: no such file or directory: : |
I looked up the gcc commandline and found something like
which leads to this message, I think.
Most of the time the problem vanishes after deleting the /var/tmp/portage/...-directory and doing a new emerge.
Could it be that there is some problem with the hardware (a too hot cpu / bad memory) that's causing the Makefile to be generated?
One time I had to delete -O2 from my CFLAGS as it lead to a "".
I got some other problems, too, that needed a little bit more attention, but I would say too many as I encountered no problem with the installing on a dual-xeon system almost simultanously.
any ideas?

i did a memtest over the weekend with no errors, is there any program with which i can test CPUs?
the xeon-system is still compiling with no errors (same cflags, except the -march-flag, of course)...

I'm suspecting a harddrive problem. If your compiles are crapping out with a "this error is not reproducible" message or something like that and fail inconsistenly then I'd suspect the CPU. _________________ Command-line ACCEPT_KEYWORDS is considered harmful, use the package.* files.
