EDIT: Nevermind, taking '-fvisibility-inlines-hidden' out of my CXXFLAGS solved the problem, it seems it's a known issue with kde.[URL="https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78720"]Bug 78720[/URL]
I just purchased my new athlon64 yesterday and have been performing a stage1 2005.0.
While attempting to emerge kde 3.4 I encountered the following error when emerging arts-3.4.0:

I would very much like to have arts working with this install and would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me solve this problem. I have attempting to emerge arts again with the -fPIC cflag set as suggested by the error message however the very same error occurs. The following is the output of 'emerge --info':
