ain't there a cfdisk on the gentoo 2004.0 sparc livecd, or at least something you could compare with?

But you will use fdisk only once
I don't know another partitioner for sparc.
You must pay attention on 3rd partition (/dev/hdx3) type=5, AKA Whole Disk, which it cannot be removed.
Follow the installation guide for sparc on gentoo site.

Parted is also available, but if you don't like regular fdisk, I don't imagine you'll like parted much either. |

cfdisk doesn't handle sun disclabels properly. I strongly suggest not trying to use it on sparc, especially if you ever want to boot the thing... |

Funny, I dont seem to need a sun disklabel at all. All the sparcs I installed on ran fine without them. I suspect you only need it if you also want to boot Solaris.
Really what's wrong with fdisk? You only spend 2 minutes using it, and it _does_ work... |
