STLports linking problems

I am trying to compile a soft that require STLports to compile whit gcc 2.95 and i cant seam to be able to link on it.

-L/usr/include/lib -lstlport /usr/lib/libfreetype.so -lz -lpng -ldl /usr/lib/libjpeg.so -Wl,-soname -Wl,libOgreMain.so.0 -o .libs/libOgreMain.so.0.0.0
/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lstlport
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I was lazy at this time of the night ( morning ) so i symlink /usr/include/lib to /usr/lib whit no succes. I have succesfully compile it on a Readhat box whit not that many problems and i dont feel to install gcc 3.1 to get it running. Any suggestion ? Is there any particularity in the gentoo install of STLports ?
