One thing that is missing from portage and emerge is implemented in FreeBSD ports system is the ability to show installed ports.

Perhaps an additional flag can be added to list all the installed packages?

emerge -l or emerge --list?

In gentoolkit there´s a script called qpkg.

"qpkg -I" will show all installed packages.

I think it would be a good idea to have this feature bult into portage.
