trying to set up apcupsd using the cgi scripts.
the instructions for manually installing says to ./configure --enable-cgi
the emerge works flawlessly, but I don't know how to feed configure lines like this to get what I want from the emerge install.
i searched, but as all true newbies know when you search emerge you get the world for results.
as always, any help is greatly appreciated. |

Okay, I looked through the ebuild for apcupsd for you. If you look at it, you will see a section that looks like this: Code: | src_compile() {
./configure || die
make || die
} | What I would do, is first make a backup of the ebuild: Code: | cp /usr/portage/sys-apps/apcupsd/apcupsd-3.8.5.ebuild /usr/portage/sys-apps/apcupsd/apcupsd-3.8.5.ebuild.orig | I would then change that section to the following: Code: | src_compile() {
./configure --enable-cgi || die
make || die
} | If the instructions you read were correct, that should do it for you. After that, a simple emerge apcupsd should do the rest. _________________ Kawada

Also see this thread, which asks the same question as you did (although a different program). In it, it says to read the FAQ chapter 3 where it says "I want to perform the ./configure option myself. Can I?".
But yeah, what Kawada said should work. I was just giving you more reading material. |
