problems as non root user in kde!?!

Hi!

When I log into kde as non root user and open up a console window it will just show an empty window. No shell. But I dont have any problems logging into a "normal" non X shell with the sam user. When I tried to do something which required su, it would complain about su not found. Other programs like firefox etc seem to work fine.

The user may need to be added to the 'tty' group
