I'm in a humorous situation after emerge --pruning a bit too much. Including the gcc 2.95.
Is it safe to rebuild the whole of gentoo with gcc 3.0 ? And are there actually any theoretical or actual benefits to this?
Thanks |

To be brief, ther's lots more in the search
Yes you can rebuild everything, don't forget to bootstrap.
Choose gcc 3.2 though, that's the one used in the next release of gentoo (1.4).
pro: it writes fast code!
contra: not yet eveything works 100% (search); compiling takes a lot longer than gcc 2.95. |
