It looks like I've been given the task to install Gentoo linux on several PC's (about 40). As the lazy person that I am I would like to create some kind of automated process do accomplish this. Has anyone done something like this? Can someone point me in the right direction for writing some kind of script to do this?
Thanks in advance for your help! |

I'm assuming that because you are asking for a script they are of different hardware configurations and you are unable to simply make a disk image of a single working system and copy it to all the others using one of many availible tools. A script that would install gentoo would be somewhat difficult because of the fact that you have to compile a kernel for each of them. I think you could automate the process up to that point, but I'm not entirely sure how I would do that. It might be an interesting experiment to go ahead and start manual installs and just see if you get done before there's a working script to do it. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

Can you be more specific. What phase of the installation you don't know how to automate? Do you have different hardware?
