I'm trying to setup Gentoo on an Ultra60, but I cannot seem to get the ethernet configured.
I found this thread which mentioned running the command:
# modprobe sunhme
to use the built in ethernet on an Ultra60. This command doesn't work for me, though. It says:
modprobe: can't locate module sunhme
and the other odd thing is that sunhme does not appear when i run the command:
# ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net
I have tried modprobe on the modules that are listed in there, but get an error to the effect of insmod DRIVERNAME failed. Was this driver removed from the more recent sparc CD's? I'm using Gentoo-sparc64-1.4_rc4-08Sep2003, which is later than the CD mentioned in the earlier post.

We tend to build sunhme into the kernel if there's room, so no need to modprobe. |

yeah, it's working now... it probably was working before, but this stupid user (read: me) was trying to net-setup hme0... quite unsuccessfully i might add |
