Hello
I'm having some trouble with the raw device. Whenever I try to use the 'raw' command, I get:
"Cannot open master raw device '/dev/rawctl' (No such file or directory).
I guess something needs to be installed or started, but what?
What I want to do once raw is working, is to mount the dvd as raw, so xine get happier.
thanks,

On Red Hat there is a service called rawdevices that you must start. Not sure on Gentoo, but this may point you to the right direction. _________________ "Two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity. And I am not sure about the universe." |

OK, found a lot of references for rawdevices. Thanks.
I gather the solution is to install chkconfig and then rawdevices from the sources.. |

I'm not sure, but I am having some trouble with xine, in that it is not able to play a whole film, giving errors and ultimately restarts the film.
This may be dvdnav as well, just thought that I should test the recommended set-up before doing further investigations.
But if you say that there's no difference, I guess I can look for the problem somewhere else.
Out of curiosity;
Why did you stop using /dev/raw?

mknod /dev/rawctl c 162 0
chmod 600 /dev/rawctl
mkdir /dev/raw
cd /dev/raw
mknod /dev/raw/raw1 c 162 1
