Following the instructions i get this when i try to install..

Code:
$ wine /mnt/d1/install.exe
Please use the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\Fonts\LogPixels
to set the screen resolution and remove the "Resolution" entry in the config file

a 800x600 box pops up and a smaller dialog pops up and says
Code:
"ERROR: no program start menu found"

EDIT:-- found the solution here: http://xstonedogx.blogspot.com/2004/09/running-starcraft-with-wine.html

No need to use winex, wine with some configuration will do the trick.

Quick and dirty: (without knowing exaclty, I'm at work)

Install the game like described in the long post on page 1.

Apply patch by first downloading the LODPatch_110.exe and locally updating it instead of connecting (which might not work yet) to battle.net.

Then add / modify the lines in wine's config file for the cd-rom configuration:
Code:
Type = "cdrom"
Path = "/mnt/dx"
Device = "/dev/cdroms/cdrom0"

Substitute with your favorite cd-rom drive :wink: .
Mount the cd-rom-iso-file of the expansion disc at e.g. /mnt/dx.

And to run it including the cd-rom protection (which is SecuROM v2 / New btw.) switch the operating system to "nt40".

Done.

Greetings

Tanetal

Code:
Please use the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\Fonts\LogPixels
to set the screen resolution and remove the "Resolution" entry in the config file

I can't seem to mount the iso's. Here is the message I get. I even tried one other way and it told me to try loop.:
Code:
mount -o loop /home/zajdnj/diablo2install.iso /mnt/d1/
mount: could not find any device /dev/loop#
mount /home/zajdnj/diablo2install.iso /mnt/d1/
mount: /home/zajdnj/diablo2install.iso is not a block device (maybe try `-o loop'?)

Any idea why this won't work?

Do you have support for a loopback device in the kernel?

Think that's the error that usually comes up if you don't.

Ok, got loopback. For some reason it would only let me use the disk I ran install from and kept trying for the cdrom drive for the other. But through this I was able to install from the disks. But I couldn't get the patch to work, nor could I get the game to run. Any ideas?
