Compiling 32 bit??

I was just wandering after reading some threads in this forum. Is it possible to compile packages 32bits? AKA, if compiling a package in 64bits doesn't work, it might work compiled 32bits?
Maybe a stupid question but it this true?? If so, how do I compile packages 32bits? :roll:
