hi,

hab heute versucht meine pcmcia wlan karte (smc2835w) unter gentoo
zum laufen zu bringen. (2.6.1-gentoo-r1)

alles nach der anleitung von hier gemacht und karte rein, einzige meldung in messages:

PCMCIA: socket cedba044: unable to apply power.

gut, karte drinn gelassen und mal gebootet und dann kam folgendes:

das sieht ja so schlecht nicht aus, bekomme zwar keine verbindung, aber naja.

was mich verwirrt ist die meldung:

weil, ich hab nur 1 steckplatz.

googeln brachte mich auf 2 seiten die erste und dann diese hier .
bei der ersten sollte der fehlende ISA support die ursache sein, hab ich aber aktiviert
und bei der zweiten gehts um CIS, das sagt mir aber garnix.

NACHTRAG:
hab noch etwas rausgefunden, wenn ich die smc karte rausziehe und mal eine
orinoco einsetze und dannach wieder die smc, fängt er an die treiber zu laden:

hmmm, naja komische sache, aber nachdem ich dhcp für das
eth1 deaktiviert habe gehts - muss ich nicht verstehen

Hey super. Ich werde dieses Howto auch mal befolgen. Bis jetzt ist es mir noch nicht gelungen meine SMC2835W mit einem 2.6er kernel ans Laufen zu bringen.
Es ist allerdings sehr seltsam dass du DHCP deaktivieren musstest.

Eigentlich wollte ich jetzt meine Resultate hier preisgeben, aber leider hab ich es nicht geschafft die Karte ans Laufen zu bekommen. Ich benutze nämlich die vanilla-sources und die muss man ja patchen. Ich bekomme keine Fehlermeldung aber irgendwie klappt etwas beim patchen nicht. Warum sind die Prism54 driver eigentlich nicht im Kernel integriert? Dieses patchen nervt! Gibt es keine Seite wo man voten kann welche Features man im Kernel sehen will? So eine Wishlist wie bei bugs.kde.org oder so?! Da wäre doch toll.
