|
|
I just installed Gentoo on my machine at work. I have DUAL head working and I was running Debian.
I have xinerama in my use flags and X ( seems ) to be working correctly..
I have Options "Xinerama" "true" in my XF86Config..
After emerging kde 3.2 I have none of the xinerama options and xininerama is definatly not enabled.
Does anyone have any experience with kde 3.2, gentoo and xininerama??? |

Have you checked to see if the "multiple monitors" selection in kcontrol is active? You can find it in Peripherals --> Display --> Multiple monitors... |

Nope I do not have that option..
I just did "equery use kdebase" and the rest of my kde packages..
None of them use the xinerama use flag?..
Maybe its the way I am starting Xinerama.? Is there a better solution?
Here is a snippet of my XF86Config..
#Start Snippet
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "XFree86 Configured"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
Screen 1 "Screen1" RightOf "Screen0"
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
Option "Xinerama" "true"
EndSection
#End Snippet
Thanks for any help in advance. |

none of the kde packages utilises the xinerama use flag... so there's nothing wrong there... However... xinerama SHOULD be used when specifying that particular option, I don't use xinerama myself so I'm afraid I don't really know where to go from here... Does it work in other wm's? that'll at least rule out if it's a kde specific problem... |

I posted my config over in this other thread.
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=139634
I just tried a bunch of various "emerge * -vp" trying to find something that used the xinerama use flag but I couldn't find anything but I know I've seen it as a use code while emerging things.
What video card are you using? I have a matrox config that worked when I was using a g450 card, but I'm using nvidia now and it works a lot better. I don't know about using two seperate cards, never done except the g450 card was pretty much treated as seperate cards as far as X was concerned.
What do you see in KDE? Anything on the second display or just a clone or is it in standby?
My dual head setup works good except for trying to get games into a full half screen window. Takes a quick keyboard shortcut because the "no border" option isn't part of the "save window settings" apparently. |
