Hi,

i have different programs crahing probably for the same reason but i don't see what to do.
I always get the following in bug buddy:

0x410db219 in wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6
#0 0x410db219 in wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6
#1 0x4115c1c0 in __DTOR_END__ () from /lib/libc.so.6
#2 0x404ee8d6 in waitpid () from /lib/libpthread.so.0

for any application crashes
it does that always on the same actions too but doesn't seems to be because of the application. (have that with evolution filling in a contact card or when closing galeon...)

does anybody have an idea what to do?

thanks

What are your CFLAGS and CPU model? What was the last time you updated glibc and what version of it are you using?

I have the following:
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O3 -pipe"
CXXFLAGS="-march=i686 -O3 -pipe"

with an intel pentium III mobile

i have glibc up to date (at least doing emerge --update)
that is glibc 2.2.5 r5
i've also tried to recompile glibc to be sure everything was doing fine.

Actually, the _DTOR_ sounds C++y. Have you upgraded from GCC 2.95.3 to GCC 3.2 or something recently? Any chance of conflicting libstdc++ libraries sitting around messing things up?

nop, i've always been using gcc 2.95.3

but i had a problem unmerging some package once
i had done it wrong and it blocked the system
so I recompiled doing emerge system --emptytree
and it went fine then

do you think there is a C++ library I should recompile?
or perhaps gcc ?
