soundblaster audiopro 128d not working wiht genkernel and es

Ive got an old school soundblaster audiopro 128d and I modprobed es1371 to get teh card wokring. then i unmuted it and im getting the error "no audio device"...I used genkernel...I'm really new to this so beyond that im completely lost....any help would be much appreciated!

p.s. this is like the millionth stupid problem ive had...i dont know if its because im a noob or becuase of the genkernel...but if you think genkernel could be causing my problems jsut let me know
