|

I've just installed gentoo on a P4, and found that multi-gnome-terminal crashes when started, leaving this message:
Gtk-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkCheckMenuItem'
Can anyone suggest what I ought to be looking for to fix this?
Other than than (and the lack of vi during the install), gentoo looks excellent compared to my Red Hat and Debian systems.
Thanks,
Milo. |

I had the same problem after upgrading multi-gnome-terminal to version 1.4.0. I was not able to figure out what the exact problem is but downgrading to version 1.3.13 will allow it to work.
If you want to downgrade to version 1.3.13, do the following:
Code: | emerge unmerge multi-gnome-terminal
cd /usr/portage/x11-terms/multi-gnome-terminal
emerge multi-gnome-terminal-1.3.13.ebuild
|
On the other hand, if you are able to fix the problem with the 1.4.0 build, there are probably more than a few people who would appreciate it (myself included). |

Thanks - downgrading was a success, and 1.3.13 is now working. I note that 1.4.1 does not work either, but can't find the cause.
