|
|
not long time ago i tried 2.6.1-love3 kernel, but it was very bugy. now i tried again with 2.6.3-mm1, then i see same problems.
1) bootsplash don't work( i see it works in love patch)
2) local apic on uniprocessor (again is applied in love patch)
3) when i starting X mouse going crazy(this is moxt important to me bug)
in /var/log/messages i see:
Feb 21 12:38:37 m0sia kernel: atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0x7a on isa0060/serio0).
Feb 21 12:38:37 m0sia kernel: atkbd.c: This is an XFree86 bug. It shouldn't access hardware directly.
Feb 21 12:39:01 m0sia kernel: psmouse.c: Mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away.
so i have a question what to do with a mouse?
ps WHYY 2.6.x is called "stable"???
[solved] mouse problem solved with using 2.6.3-mm2 or 2.6.3-love4 sources. thats great.

i see something like this on kerneltrap:
Problem:
~~~~~~~~
I'm getting these:
psmouse.c: PS/2 mouse at serio0 lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away.
Solution:
~~~~~~~~~
Check your mouse cable. If this only happens when you move your mouse in a
certain way, fix the mouse cable or replace the mouse.
Check your kernel and harddisk settings. This message can also happen when
the mouse interrupt is delayed more than one half of a second. Make sure DMA
is enabled for your harddrive and CD-ROM. Kill your ACPI/APM battery
monitoring applet. Try disabling ACPI, frequency scaling. Make sure your
time is ticking correctly, often with frequency scaling it gets unreliable.
Even if you're using the ACPI PM Timer as a clock source - actually this
often leads to the above problem.
ok i'll try to disable ACPI. |

Try 2.6.3-mm2. It's very stable and bootsplash works fine. If you have emerged the bootsplash package just run 'bootsplash_patch' to apply it to the kernel that is linked to /usr/src/linux.
I had some of the mouse wackiness that you did but don't remember the version that caused it. A couple versions caused bttv problems as well and 2.6.3-mm2 seems to have everything sorted out. I'm going to stick with it for a while.
BTW, the 'vanilla' 2.6 kernel is stable. But you are adding at least two patch sets into the picture, which changes things. |
