(EDIT) Remember to download latest vmware-any-any-updateXX.tar.gz patch
ftp://platan.vc.cvut.cz/pub/vmware/

Code:

cd /opt/vmware
mkdir vmwarePatch
cp /"downloadpath"/vmware-any-any-updateXX.tar.gz vmwarePatch/
cd wmwarePatch
tar -zxvf vmware-any-any-updateXX.tar.gz
cd vmware-any-any-updateXX
./runme.pl

Let script run vmware-config.pl again to build fresh vmmon.o & vmnet.o for your bleeding edge 2.5.x kernel
