Ok I want to install opengl support (or 3d support ) for my card I was reading the #3D Accelerated Harkware guide and I want to be sure im doing this correct.
My setup
ABit NF7-M w/ GeForce MX AGP built in
2.6.3r3 Gentoo-Dev_sources kernel
KDE3.2
Step I think I should do
-Chek the kernel-
make shure MTRR is built in
/dev/agpart is a module
build in my card support (what card do I choose for a geforce?)
make shure DRI is off no module or built in
Then
1) Emerge nvidia-kernel (or is this already built into 2.6 kernel im confused)
2) emerge nvidia-glx
3) xfree-drm (or does nvidia-glx take care of this?)
Now edit my /etc/X11/XF86Config
Section "Module"
...
load "dri"
load "glx"
...
end selection
Section "Device"
...
Driver "nforce" or should it be geforce?
...
endsection
section "dri"
...
Mode 0666
...
endsection
then test my card in x with glxinfo | grp rendering and glxgears?
I want to make shure I do this right as I really dontw ant to mess up my gentoo install and have to trubble shoot it or reinstall. I have browsed many of the geforce hits along with dri and glx nothing really gives me the answers im looking for so im asking for someone to look this over and make shure these are the correct steps

no
emerge nvidia-kernel
emerge nvidia-glx
change your driver in your xfree config to "nvidia"
comment out all dri stuff
make sure the glx module is loaded
start up xfree |

you need mtrr stuff built in
agpgart can be in or out
if you want to use nvidia's agp, which might be an idea if you have an nforce board, then it has to be a module or disabled |

Option "NvAgp" "1" ... use NVAGP, if possible for nforce agp support |
