You go home to reboot? Wus, only time I do that is when there's the possiblity of the router not coming back up && my g/f is in the house and hence might need the net.

w00t!

Also, a qauestion. In the earlier 2.6 kernels there was a problem with using the apm --suspend on an IBM ThinkPad. Anyway, fortunately, since I tried love-sources-2.6.3_rc1-r1, it has been fixed. Out of curiosity, was this a patch or is it part of 2.6.3?

Also, I was having some trouble with Hotplug... It would segfault at line 4478, I think. Somewhere around that line. It would show some tracebacks and stuff. Is there a log that shows all the messages shown when botting up?

Thanks, Stu.

EDIT: Also, you know what would be awesome? Just make a love-sources-latest ebuild that just fetches and installs the latest patches.

Also, could you name love-sources-2.6.3-r2 "42"?

What errors are you having getting it compiled?

"42" is too obvious of a name. It doesn't have that hint of insanity that most of my release names have.

Here's what I'm getting...I've tried this with and without ACPI in the kernel...

GEN .version
CHK include/linux/compile.h
UPD include/linux/compile.h
CC init/version.o
LD init/built-in.o
LD .tmp_vmlinux1
arch/i386/kernel/built-in.o(.text+0xcd52): In function `acpi_apic_setup':
: undefined reference to `smp_found_config'
arch/i386/kernel/built-in.o(.text+0xcd5b): In function `acpi_apic_setup':
: undefined reference to `clustered_apic_check'
make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Error 1

I've tried some of my .config tricks (non of which are very impressive ;)) and it's still not workin. My next thought is to try a whole new .config...

You need to enable
Code:

Processor type and features  --->
[*] Local APIC support on uniprocessors
       [*]   IO-APIC support on uniprocessors

It's a new APIC thing

They should have already been included in mm. I would also *highly* recommend updating your bios.

Revenge of the kittens has a nice ring to it. We'll see what mood I'm in when the new love-sources is released.

I didn't know about it. I have an SMP so those are enabled by default. neenee had the same problem on the IRC channel and I grepped the right files for it (that sounded disgusting. I really should stop doing perverted things with the kernel source)

I really like "Joey the Glow in the Dark Goatboy" but again, we'll see what mood I'm in for the new release.

Er, the APIC options have been around for a while... have been for as long as I can remember 2.5 in fact (my memory goes before then). And I've been enabling them since I got the Athlon XP. Dunno why they'd be a requirement in the kernel now though. *shrug*
