PostPosted: Fri Feb 13, 2004 3:19 am    Post subject: Sometimes logitech USB keyboard/mouse not detected Reply with quote

I have the Logitech MX duo, and it is very nice, but I have this annoying problem. Sometimes after booting into the login manager, for some reason my computer does not want to detect my keyboard or mouse. The reason why this is so annoying is because this only happens about 50% of the time. Otherwise, my computer boots fine and both my keyboard and mouse are detected. I've tried unplugging and usb cable and trying out different ports but nothing seems to work. My only option is to manually power off and turn my computer back on. I've tried plugging in a regular when this happens and this is what my dmesg says:

Did the keyboard come with ps/2 converters? If so you may give that a try as I never trust my keyboard to something as unstable as usb. I have gotten a few devices to work in usb but I am still playing around with configuration in order to get it working consistently.

I have this very same issue with the wireless usb microsoft natural keyboard and matching optical mouse. Next time it happens I will try to get the dmesg info up here. Same symptoms, compy doesn't crash, but keyboard doesn't work. The initial kernel boot messages always say that the keyboard and mouse have been discovered, even when they don't work. One thing that seems to fix the problem is if I keep pressing keys during boot-up after the kernel shows that the keyboard and mouse have been detected.
