"The setup programs seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1"
I have found that error for other games within other posts on this forum but none of those fixes have helped.
Has anyone ever overcome the error below for ThinkTanks?
Can anyone tell me how to figure out what this game requires so that it will install? Is there a command that will run as a wrapper to this setup program and tell me what it's looking for so that I know what to emerge?
When I launch the install from their provided .bin file, below is what happens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
./ThinkTanks_v1.1.sh.bin
Verifying archive integraity... All good.
Uncompressing ThinkTanks............................
./setup.sh: line 264: 1262 Segmentation fault "$setup" "$@" 2>>$NULL The setup programs seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1
Fatal error, no tech support email configured in this setup
The program returned an error code (1)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm obviously missing something on my install but I don't know what or how to figure out what. So far I have installed xfreem, glibc, and emerged world. I have glibc version 2.3.2-r3 and I wonder if the newer version is causing the problem. I don't know how to regress to version 2.1.
This game uses the Torque engine that the "Legends" package also uses. I have not experienced any problems with emerging legends on this server.
I also attempted to install another Torque game from a .bin package and received this error: "error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
Note: I do not have any X server running nor do I intend to ever run any graphical mode. I'm merely installing this so that I can run a text based dedicated server; but I'm thinking that the install requires some sort of graphics lib for a fancy setup of some sort.
Any thoughts? I don't even know how to debug this and figure out what the setup needs to if you could help me with tracking down the libs it requires; then that would be enough (and very appreciated).
If I have missed a post in the forum that addresses this, or any other sort of documentation; I apologize for that error. I have been reading for several weeks in order to conquer this problem and I just can't find any text that will help me. |

That should hopefully fix the problem. |

Thank you Shigure...
Emerging lib-compat did not have an impact on this issue. |

The installer included in that file is statically linked and breaks on some systems.
A new version will be uploaded to the garage games site in a few days. It should fix this problem.
In the meantime you should be able to run the self-extrator with --keep. It will still crash, but it will also create a LokiSetup directory that has a thinktanks.tar.gz file in it. Extract that to a ThinkTanks directory on your system and you should be able to run it... |
