hey all,

i am installing via knoppix, and during the bootstrap, i get this error when it tries to populate /dev. i followed the guide with mounting /dev with a bind mount... i really dont know what to do.

any help would be great, thanks

EDIT:

also when i run "df" it says, "df: cannot read table of mounted filesystems: No such file or directory"

I have exactly the same problem, using knoppix 3.3.

I exited the chroot and did df:
Code:

root@ttyp0[gentoo]# df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root             2.5M  1.8M  723K  71% /
/dev/cdrom            700M  700M     0 100% /cdrom
/dev/cloop            1.8G  1.8G     0 100% /KNOPPIX
/ramdisk              400M  1.6M  398M   1% /ramdisk
/dev/hda2              17G  312M   17G   2% /mnt/gentoo
/dev                  2.5M  1.8M  723K  71% /mnt/gentoo/dev

I have no idea what to do with it either... anyone?

Update: I burned me a new testing livecd (20040204 or something), the normal livecd-iso was broken or something here, cost me 3 cdrs. That was the reason I tried the Knoppix install. But anyway: that experimental livecd: booted, installed, runs, from of stage 1 within 12 hours, and with X, although I still have to configure that. KDE is already built... busy with openoffice now.

Kernel 2.6.2 and KDE3.2 of course... oh, and that openoffice is 1.1.1b... I'm so gonna bleed for that...

Still dont know what is wrong with that knoppix though...
