|
|
Hi,
i am installing gentoo on a Ultra5 with serial console
The "emerge system" goes well till the emerge kbd. I get the following error
kdbrate.c:In function "KIOCSRATE_ioctl_ok':
kbdrate.c:164 structure has no member named 'period'
...
kdbrate.o Error 1
!!!ERROR: sys-apps/kdb-1.12 failed.
!!!Function src_compile, Line 50, Exitcode 2
!!!(no error message)
I booted gentoo with gentoo serial.
My ACCEPT-KEYWORDS="sparc".
Any suggestions? _________________ Required: Windows 95 or better, so i installed Linux!!! |

As i am a big noob on the sparc architecture and an average gentoo user, i have some more question.
- What happens if i don't install kbd? It is the only package who don't emerge from the whole emerge system and i will never use a keyboard on that Ultra5 (as i don't have one )
- Will i be able to compile the kernel if i don't install kbd. (Maybe the kernel neds some files of it)
- Where can i specify that i don't want to install kbd (if possible), so if i do a emerge -u system i don't have to emerge package per package after the kbd entry.
Hope this is understandable english _________________ Khammi

Check the BUG#40024, I've created a patch for it. I had the same problem myself with installation at Ultra60 system.
Hope it will help you too.
Cheers,

Yep,
the patch worked! Thx for the help.
Do i have to specify something on bugs.gentoo.org to let the people know that it worked for me too or is that all checked already? _________________ Khammi

Don't know. Maybe you can leave a note so developers know that it's working. _________________ running Gentoo with
