Two requests isn't quite enough. However, if we get a few more, we'll look at creating one. I'll also need someone to volunteer to be a moderator for that forum as well as translate the FAQ into Dutch.

I will translate the faq, every newest version will be on my site. (Yeah I've got some (read: a lot) of spare time - gcc 3.2 is recompiling everything :) and even after that I got way too much free time...)

Tonight (Monday night at 23:59 GMT+1) I'll put up the first version, and post the url for it here. Don't worry about my site formatting - I'll put on a basic .gz version as well, that will be easy to implement on this forum.

On second thought, I'll have it up a lil later. (Being? A day? I'll try) It's more work than I expected ;)

Just to clarify two key points:

  • I'm referring to this FAQ not this FAQ ;)
  • I don't need you to host the files -- just translate them. Also, you'll want to grab the raw include file to translate from. That makes my life much easier.

Also, still haven't seen enough folks to warrant a dedicated Dutch forum. If you guys want to see some Dutch representation here on the forums, you'd better get out there evangelizing the Gentoo cause!! :)

I want to host it ;) Great to fiddle around with it. Although I did a lot more work now !! :( Check it out -- http://dvxs.net/v5/gentoo-faq.nl.html ..

Well hope you can still use it when it's done. I just altered the CSS-bit, not any XHTML.

The problem is that in order for it to be put onto the main forum page, it needs to be in PHP, not HTML. See this thread for some more information on the details.

hmm hmm. Ok. Well....... I'll work on it a bit later then hehe. Gahh, lots of work almost for nothing..... well I can still add it to my site :P

So arent there more questions? This is almost nothing compared to the full faq.

The rest of the FAQ has already been translated and is available on phpBB.com as one of their language packs. The only questions I need translated are the gentoo-specific ones. Sorry for not making that clearer...

So far, I count four. There is no exact number that I'm looking for, but four votes over several days certainly isn't enough. :)

Each new language that we add to the board adds more overhead and upgrade headaches. So, while I'm certainly not opposed to adding more languages, I do want to make sure there are enough Gentoo users wanting to use that forum to make it worthwhile.

I'm also Dutch speaking and what does it take to moderate the Dutch forum? I can also help with translations.

Nederlanders zijn welkom in hun eigen taal! (Niet iedereen voelt zich op zijn gemak met Engels, toch?)

It looks like we're getting somewhere, translations and moderator.
And yes, posting in Dutch makes life easyer, so keep up the good work!!
But i don't think that Klieber wants headaches for a "few" Dutch forum visitors.....

Well, I'm Dutch, although not living in The Netherlands, but my profile doesn't show that. So what do you need to see us? 8)
