ok... here's my problem:
I have a HomeFree network card, which is not supported by default by the linux kernel, but i have the sources that need compiling
could someone with a gentoo linux box up and running be willing to compile these sources... or maybe you already have the module (il.o) i can give you a zip file by email or AIM if you want to contact me through AIM my screenname is standsolid. thanks for the help! |

ok here's the tar.gz for whoever is willing to help.. it only takes 5 minutes to compile and it won't install anything on your system, it'll just make the driver

A note to potential volunteers: make sure you're running 2.4.19-gentoo-r7. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

i've compiled it on three systems (suse, mandrake, and coyote) and they all worked perfectly... i just would need a tar.gz package of the gentoo kernel to build it on this machine.... but i could only find ebuilds.... i tried LFS but that was dang hard for me |

gmake LINUXVER=2.4.19-r7
or
make LINUXVER=2.4.19-r7
then zip up the resulting il.o in the smae directory and email or whtever to me it'd be great to have |

kanuslupus: No, I don't think CFLAGS should matter. Kernel compilation doesn't use them.

Oh, in that case, all you would have to do is download the 2.4.18 sources from kernel.org or somewhere like that, and then download the gentoo patches from http://www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/distfiles/linux-gentoo-2.4.19-gentoo-r7.patch.bz2, and apply the patches. Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure that that is the right patch version for the x86 install CD - I've never used one. Can anyone confirm this? In any case, old patches are available in that same directory, too. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Good luck - let us know how it turns out. And if you register, we'll remember who you are next time. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

If you post the error messages, maybe someone here can give you some advice. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
